Suzanne Thomson

Suzanne has over 25 years of experience in the management, design and development of custom, association and national compensation surveys. She has been responsible for the management of the Canadian survey practices for Wm. Mercer, Willis Towers Watson and Aon Hewitt.

At Wm. Mercer, Suzanne led a group of individuals responsible for the design and development of an online compensation survey system, (including testing, report design and development, roll out) and training of consulting and survey staff. The system linked to the existing contact database and invoicing applications. The national surveys were available in both official languages and included a General Industry Salary Planning survey as well as General Industry Executive, Management, Professional and an Information Technology survey. At Willis Towers Watson, Suzanne (as part of the 6-member global Management Team) was responsible for the globalization of the Compensation Databases (Energy, Power Services, Executive, High Tech, Management Professional & Support and the Salary Increase Survey surveys). Functions included, identification of mandatory survey elements, standardization of survey methodology (Career Level Framework) across all surveys, identification and implementation of enhancements, report requirements (development of report templates, data privacy and associated peer group confidentiality), marketing, development of a CRM system for existing and proposed participating firms, and ongoing training and development of staff.

At Aon Hewitt, Suzanne was responsible for the development of an interim compensation survey system for use by predominately Canadian consulting and survey staff for the association and custom compensation surveys. The surveys included: The Law Office Management Association (TLOMA), Association of Professional Engineers and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA), The Law Society of Upper Canada, Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), and the Engineering Human Resources Association of Alberta (EHRAA).

Suzanne has been quoted by Canadian HR Reporter, the Financial Post and the Globe and Mail regarding results of the Salary Planning Survey. Suzanne studied at the University of Toronto and is a member of HRPA Durham Chapter.
